Console

The Console is the home page of your server: power, address, live stats and the live console.

Power buttons

At the top right:

  • Start turns the server on. It is the only button shown while the server is offline.
  • Restart stops and starts the server. Use it after changing a config file, installing a plugin or changing a setting that says "restart the server to apply".
  • Stop shuts the server down cleanly and saves your data.
  • Kill appears when stopping takes too long. It ends the server immediately and can lose recent unsaved progress. Use it only when Stop has not worked after a minute or two.
note

The first start of a new server is slower because the game files are installed. Rust can take several minutes. Wait until the console says the server is ready.

Server address

The SERVER ADDRESS card shows the address players use, usually IP and port.

  1. Click Copy.
  2. Paste it into your game (see Connect to your server).

Add a subdomain takes you to Settings > Subdomain. See Settings or, for Minecraft, Minecraft subdomain.

Stats

A row of live numbers: UPTIME, CPU, MEMORY, DISK and NETWORK. All read Offline while the server is off.

  • UPTIME: how long the server has been running.
  • CPU: how much processor the server is using.
  • MEMORY: how much RAM it is using.
  • DISK: how much storage it is using. On plans with unmetered NVMe storage this shows Unmetered.
  • NETWORK: the traffic going in and out of the server.

A server near its memory limit is the usual cause of lag or crashes. For a check-up, press Ctrl K and ask Fenix.

The live console

The Console box shows the server output in real time. While offline it shows only a line saying so.

To send a command, type it in the command line at the bottom of the box and press Enter. Commands depend on the game:

  • Minecraft: say Hello, whitelist add PlayerName, op PlayerName, save-all.
  • Rust: status, say Hello, or oxide.reload PluginName when Oxide is enabled.

Fullscreen (top right of the console box) is useful for long errors.

Tips

  • Console commands take no leading slash.
  • For older output, open the log files from Files (the logs folder on Minecraft).
  • On an error, copy the red or yellow lines around the first one. Fenix can read them, and support will ask for them.
  • Before big changes (a new version, a new plugin, a wipe) make a backup.
